My friend and neighbor Hillary, her beautiful daughter Elise, and Evelyn and I went to the park Friday. Evelyn was big enough to sit in the swing. It was fun for us to watch her take in the world of the park. She was entranced by the other children and all the movement, she giggled with delight when pushed in the swing. I want to go back maybe today if the weather is nice with Ben and get pictures/video. She is so stinking sweet.
After the park I was determined to get our own baby porch swing. Amazon sells the standard plastic baby swings for about $45. There are some neat looking ones for much more found at this link. But we decided instead to try to make our own. We loaded up Hanky and Evelyn for our saturday morning routine. Chick-fil-a, walk around park for Hank to swim, then to Lowes and Hobby Lobby for our materials.
We are probably going to make another with slightly smaller deminsions and give the slightly bigger 1st version to Evelyn's cousin Emma.
Here are pictures of the making. I didn't get Ben's awesome jig making skills photographed. But drilling the holes for the rope in the dowels perfectly straight required some thinking. He kept saying, "see I need a drill press" Ha good try hun.

What a neat project! I hope Evelyn gets lots of use out of her new swing :) Is it an outside or indoor swing? Hopefully we get to see y'all next weekend and I hope everything is going great with the move, etc.
REally we might get to see you! it's been stressful, but you know all about that. It's an outside swing. see you soon.
