Last chance ... 2009

Ben I took a trip down to Natchitoches Louisiana to see their famous trail of lights. They also had a firework display.

I have been trying to get my Christmas light fix for a few weeks. We have both been too busy to drive around the city. I'm still a little sad we didn't get to see some of the cool historic houses all done up for the holiday, but our trip south on the Red River turned out very enjoyable.

We arrived in the town about an hour before dawn. We kenneled Hank then ate some home town burgers. A little later, we took Hank for a walk along the river. It was and always is hard to convince him that sometimes it just isn't an appropriate time for swimming. After dark, sitting in our EZ chairs, talking to a few locals we settled in to wait for the fireworks. We casually discussed the possible reaction to the fireworks that will soon come from Hank. This will be his first experience with fireworks. Convinced he will ace the course, we enjoyed the lighted river and some laugh at the cold weather.

Hank was.... a little startled by the first blast. He barked, crouched, tried to run, and barked some more for the first few. We managed to convince him everything was okay, and he was remarkable calm for the rest of the evening.

After the show we walked to a pub with an outdoor seating. We meet a few more interesting locals and then drove home. It was a great Saturday.

I am looking forward to the rest of my time off. I plan to make Hank a new bed, read a book cover to cover, mow the leaves, fertilize my grass, pay bills, make a few doctor's appointments, exercise, plan the new flower beds, and get completely caught up on laundry. I'M SURE I CAN GET IT ALL DONE! anyway... blogging really shouldn't be happening right now. But thankfully I'm really only concerned about staying relaxed, so I think I fit it in nicely.

December 30th is the one year anniversary for the day we picked out Hank. December 31st ( New Years Eve) is the one year anniversary for the day I got engaged. Wow, a lot to reflect on in that year.

Welcome 2010.

oh and just for fun here are a few pictures of my kids.
